About Me

  • Qualifications Psychologist, Coach, Therapist and Writer
  • Description Barry is a psychologist, therapist, and coach. He has built his career around sharing information that helps people sort out the things that trouble them including overcoming addiction and habits they would like to change.

If you’ve decided to stop a "bad" habit such as smoking, the good news is that you are not alone; thousands drop their habits every year, many, overnight. Barry (a former smoker himself) sees this as clear proof that – whatever your beliefs about this ‘addiction’ – success is possible if you know how to go about it.

There's always something you do if you have the right information and the right guidance. So, he provides personal and professional training that will help you get a better handle on yourself, your relationship, and life in general.

Barry's strapline "Life doesn't have to be like that" comes from the idea that—given the right information and a bit of encouragement—we can fix a lot of life's irritants ourselves.

His courses, podcast, and one-to-one sessions always include plenty of practical advice that you can apply right away. He uses a solution-focused, problem-solving approach because he wants everything he delivers to be useful, practical, and effective.

Mood Control It's Free and It Works!
Mood Control It's Free and It Works!
Our mood is the foundation of our wellbeing. We take it with us wherever we go, and we behave as though we have no control over it. But our mood is not all-powerful. It can be reined in and regulated. In short, it can be managed, and the best bit is, it's...

Confidence: Do You Know Your Strengths?
How often have you met someone who is going to do something when they feel ‘confident' to do it? The world is full of non-authors, or non-artists and millions of other potentially creative souls who are telling themselves some version of “Some...

Moods: If You can Feel It You can Change It
Moods: If You can Feel It You can Change It
When it comes to managing our moods we often think that we have little control over them. Moods are often the result of 'distorted thinking'' These are the false judgements and assumptions (E.g. "She did that deliberately so she must really hate me";...

Why I'm Fed Up, and How to Find Inspiration in the Daily Details
Why I'm Fed Up, and How to Find Inspiration in the Daily Details
I'm fed up! Lockdown can be tough, that's true. But do we need to make it worse by banging-on about how hard it is? In the middle of a crisis, predicting ever more doom and gloom is not what we need!
People have many fine qualities. One of our finest is ...

Deborah Tyson April 21, 2020 I love this way of being of presence and tapping into the beauty and joy that is all around us all the time, when that is what we choose to focus on. Whilst of course being aware of the broader world.

Let It Go, or, Paralysis by Analysis
Let It Go, or, Paralysis by Analysis
For the most part, it isn't in our nature to like uncertainty. We tend to like things to be tidy and known. We are also, for the most part, good at problem-solving.
Yet we can easily become trapped in a mire of indecision about the smallest things....

Ideas to Help You Survive and Thrive in Lockdown
Ideas to Help You Survive and Thrive in Lockdown
Adjustment to any change is a challenge at the best of times. In the current situation where sudden change has been forced upon us by circumstances, the word 'challenge' seems totally inadequate.
In any other situation, there would be somewhere to ...
