When we are stressed or stuck ‘in our head’, we miss out on the beauty of life that is all around us, all the time. When we are stressed, anxious or worried, we lose contact with the sensations in our body that allow us to feel how good life really is. When we are FORCED to get out of our head and into our body or ‘heart space’, then we become free to experience the true beauty of life. For example, when we dive into the ocean and are immersed in the beauty of nature or are watching some amazing sporting event that takes our breath away. At these moments we are not in our head, worrying or feeling anxious, but truly in the moment, feeling connected and at one with the world and it’s inherent beauty.
How do we feel de-stressed every day? How do we create bliss every day? We can consciously begin to create bliss, peace and happiness in our internal world. We can observe how we are thinking and feeling. If we are feeling tense in our body we can ask ourselves what we are thinking.
Our thoughts and feelings are one and the same. If we are not feeling so good, chances are our thoughts will be fuelling these feelings. This awareness allows as to make changes around our thoughts so that they support us in beginning to feel better. When we ask ourselves “are these thoughts helpful to me or harming me?”, we can make a choice around them and choose what we would prefer. Ask yourself if being stressed right now is helping to make a positive difference to your the situation, or whether it is hindering you.
If we feel too overwhelmed by our thoughts and feelings it is the perfect time to get some support for and from ourselves. We may need to go for a walk in nature, play some sport, meditate, garden or whatever it is for us that allows us to clear our mind and tune into our internal wisdom.
When we go beyond the stress that our mind can create by surrendering our thoughts and resulting emotions, we can appreciate the deliciousness of life. When we have created mental freedom, we are able to tune into true joy and happiness. The reality is loving and kind and all the rest is not real. By going beyond the illusions that our thoughts can create, we are free to return to our natural and loving state. We appreciate the softness of our pillow as we sink into it, that holding a newborn baby is nothing short of a miracle and that sharing a smile or a moment with a loved one is one of the finest joys in life.
