Losing someone we love can be one of the saddest things that could ever happen to us. Everyone responds to loss and grief differently. However, it is important to recognize and validate any feelings that you are experiencing in relations to the passing of your loved one. It is essential to face your emotions and work through your emotions rather than pushing them back down inside you (also known as “bottling them up” or repression).

Grieving is a process that involves five stages as described by Elisabeth Kübler Ross:

    • Denial
    • Anger
    • Bargaining
    • Depression
    • Acceptance

It may helpful to share your feelings with a trusted friend or professional counselor, to assist you in expressing your emotions. Sometimes people will feel guilty when a loved one has passed. If so accept this is how you feel and it too will pass through your energetic system.

The grief and a sense of loss may never “go away” as such. However by processing your authentic feelings, over time your inner sense of peace will be your prevalent emotion. When you have had time to grieve, your inner wisdom will guide you to stay on your path and you will know that the greatest gift you can give you loved one is to be happy in your lifetime.
