When you are able to make a choice around your emotions rather than act out on them it is empowering. This is often easier said than done, however validating your emotions exactly as they are is the first step. When you are validated, you are more likely to relax without unconsciously acting out on the feeling. In that space you can tap into your reasoning centres and choose your behaviour.
